The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made their appearance on Instagram, with a new joint account. Good news for lovers of English royalty, but that does not please everyone. Indeed, the account of a user has been requisitioned for the royal couple.

A few days ago, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, created an impressive craze on Instragam by creating a common account. They also broke the record of the account having reached the million subscribers in a very short time. In reality, it was not really a creation since the pseudonym used by the royal couple already existed and was simply reassigned to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The real creator, Kevin Keiley, had registered his account under the name @SussexRoyal. A name chosen a thousand leagues from a link with the royal family for this driving instructor, it was a reference to the English football club Reading FC, whose nickname is the Royals, as well as a nod to his region, Sussex. Thus was born the account @SussexRoyal.

However, wanting to join the social network under the same pseudonym, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did not want to add a dash or a letter as anyone would do in this kind of situation. They simply turned to Instagram to recover this nickname.
Assisted by Instragram himself, the couple managed to get their hands on the nickname. A process to which the social network is accustomed and which is, in fact, registered under the conditions of use. Indeed, if we look more closely, it is indicated that a user can lose his nickname if his account has been inactive too long. It is however not specified a specific period of time, it is therefore Instagram to decide.

It is still indicated that “an account is considered inactive based on several parameters, including its creation date, and whether the user has logged in or recently shared, liked or commented on photos” .

The most “annoying” in history is that the first owner of @SussexRoyal was not warned that he was withdrawn his pseudonym in favor of the royal couple, as he told the BBC. Asked by the English channel, Instagram said that Kevin Keiley had not published anything for some time and was considered inactive which, according to his policy, allowed the social network to reassign his nickname.

However, the user claims to log in regularly to like or simply keep abreast of the publications of his contacts.

Despite the Instagram policy, the user can still file an appeal with the social network for deletion or reuse without consent of his pseudonym. A situation that should not happen, Kevin Keiley does not want the royal couple. In any case, as he tweets so well with irony, he remains the only @SussexRoyal on Twitter.
